Take Over Bid?????

I just noticed a filing on Sedar December 4th, 2008, regarding a takeover bid for Century by a company named Nirek Resources. I believe it is a German company (trading on Frankfort). At .01 cent a share!!! Anybody seen it??

Yeah, personally, it's not something I'm concerned about. Actually, I considered it to be a bad attempt at a joke. To be honest, I had already forgotten about it, until I saw your post. This company (Nirek) recently tried something similar with another company, but failed, naturally. Quite frankly, I don't know why they continue to waste their time with these sort of joke offers - they want to own 20% of Century's o/s shares for 1 penny per share, and don't want to go purchase shares on the open market like everyone else (they must think that every day is Christmas or something) .

Here was their NR:

ONTARIO, CANADA – December 4, 2008 - Nirek Resources Inc. (“Nirek”) Frankfurt: 3N6-FRA; Gold Warrant: CA6546411175) has offered, upon certain conditions, to purchase not less than 20% of the issued and outstanding common shares of Century Mining Corp. (“Century”) TSX-V: CMM)on the basis of one (0.01) for each Century share.

The purpose of the Offer is to enable Nirek to acquire at least 20% of Century shares in order to assist Nirek in acquiring resource and gold producing assets.

Century Mining Corporation is an emerging mid-tier gold producer that is aggressively acquiring producing mines and exploration properties in Peru in addition to its Canadian projects. The Company owns the Lamaque mine in Quebec that historically has produced over 9.4 million ounces of gold. In Peru, Century wholly-owned subsidiaries own an 82.6% interest in the San Juan Mine where the Company accounts for 100% of gold production.

NIREK is a Toronto-based company. According to their website, they are engaged in exploration for preciuos & base metals.

I agree with you Production05 that Nirek's bid for CMM is a "joke offer", at best. Could it be that they are trying to oust PK? (another joke!?)

By the way Production05, thanks for keeping the Blog alive with your postings. I guess everyone else seem to have gone into hybernation!
