Quick courtesy post

Since I am a frequent poster on the blog, and given I haven`t posted in a bit, I thought I would make a quick courtesy post. I am attempting to gather more info to get my head around Century`s current operating situation. I evaluate my investments on a continuous basis. I increase or decrease my share position based on outcome of these evaulations relative to my expectations. I am not one to post for the sake of posting. I only post when I feel I have something meaningful to contribute to blog conversations. I also like to reach a certain comfort level with topics before I post. I`m not sure when I will gather enough info to post more intelligently about the subject matter on the attached link. It could be tomorrow or it could be a few weeks or even months from now. I posted this comment on Stockhouse last Thursday to someone else`s post (only because my comment was requested on the post):

Looks you are the straw that stirs the drink around here Prod 05. Very curious about Nov. 15.Time for Century to step it up, announce Bedard Dyke and take advantage of these gold prices. The Blog has been boring lateley, but so has the market. Looking forward to a post from you, alot if technical info is good!

Hey P5 got an e-mail back from Peter today. Can you tell me what it means in laymans terms?
"We have commenced general slashing out of top and bottom cuts preparing for drill"

Hi Roxy14,

Unfortunately, I do not the expertise to accurately decipher the lingo. However, I will try to do my best with some thoughts from my 10,000 foot viewpoint.

It sounds like they are getting closer to blasting at the BD, but whether blasting is 2 weeks away or 4 weeks away, it is unclear. The word ``commence`` is a key word. It says they have ``commenced general slashing out of top and bottom cuts``, but the missing piece of the formula is how long it generally takes for slashing and putting finishing touches on those particular areas.

For example, the bottom area may include an undercut, a loading crosscut and a transport drift. Although, it`s entirely possible they might have already slashed out the transport drift in order to reach the areas to be slashed out as the undercut and the loading crosscut. There is not enough info to draw firm conclusions on what is done and what needs to be done.

Perhaps it`s a good signed we have reached these late stage top and bottom cuts (even though it`s not clear how long they will take), as I believe the next stage might be long-hole drilling then blasting.

``preparing for drill``

I don`t think the use of the word ``drill`` in this case is to signify definition drilling. I think (advanced) definition drilling - to identify ore blocks to be mined - started about 2 months ago. We saw some of the those (excellent) drill results published in September. I think the ``preparing for drill`` explanation they are using might be the long-hole stope drilling that might be used to support the vertical blasting process. I think they have a special drill for long-hole drilling. I vaguely remember Peggy mentioning in the June conference call that they were close to ordering a long-hole stope drill.

What the heck are top and bottom cuts?

Thanks for your attempt P05

``What the heck are top and bottom cuts?``

A stope is the targeted mineralized area to be mined.

Lamaque 2 has horizontal stopes due to the flat nature of the mineralization.

Bedard Dyke (BD) has vertical stopes. The BD mineralization and rock structure allows for long-hole open stope mining (LHOS). LHOS is a form of bulk type mining, where the material falls to the bottom of the stope once blasted (in a bulk manner). As such, the LHOS has a top and a bottom.

I believe they have already establish a drill access drift at the top of the BD stope (from the ramp). The top cut slashing they are currently working on likely relates to carving out the area to allow access for the long-hole drill and blasting. The long-hole drill will likely create the holes for the dynamite to fit into. The dynamite will blast the material loose. The material will fall to the bottom of the stope to be actioned (ore vs waste). Ore material will be transported to the mill for processing. Some of the waste material will eventually be used to fill in the stope later on, in order to reduce transportation costs but also to reduce geotechnical issues (maximize stability) and to better enable adjoining long-hole stopes to be mined.

The blasted material will be housed at the bottom of the stope until transported. I think the undercut area represents either part of or all of the holding area. The loading crosscut wing(s) is where the material is pulled to, to be loaded into the trucks. A loader will likely pick up the ore and move it to the loading crosscut area(s). Depending on certain factors, the loader may be operated remotely by radio control, for safety reasons.

The trucks then transport the ore through the transport drift to the ramp, then up the ramp to the mill.
