Community parade by Century Mining Peru

Good idea! Good relations building activity with both the town and the workers. Century should post this type of video/info on Century`s main website (I stumbled onto this person`s You Tube video otherwise we have never known about this positive community event). Century should show the investment community all of the great support Century provides to the towns people down there. Since Century took over, Century has provided and paid for many essential services for the community over the years.

The parade was simple, but I imagine fun for the kids. It would be especially enjoyable since many in the audience likely have family members (i.e. dad) that work at the Mine. I notice a Veta Jessica sign. That`s one of our veins currently in production. Perhaps the sign is to indicate that the marchers (in that part of the parade) work at Veta Jessica. Also, at one part of the parade the rescue team demonstated a rescue/first aid situation (as part of the parade). I also notice that a couple of ladies in the final truck tossing over candies to the kids. One last observation: I noticed how serious every miner took their marching - no goofing off or laughing or playing around or anything like that. That was very impressive. It showed that this is something they really wanted to do for the community. It also shows that they are very proud of their trade and the job they do to bring success of the mine.

From Mr. Hulley`s comments in the last conference all, it sounds like relations with the workers have improved at Lamaque also (I think he said that relations are now very good and that they now understand the cultural differences). I can see Lamaque also doing and sponsoring community events in Val d`Or also.

Bravo! I can see discipline, dedication, concentration and sense of purpose written on the faces of those miners in the parade. Must say their act is well practised and well rehearsed. I am centain the miners took it seriously and the company took it seriously too.
With Lamaque finally fully stuffed at 250, I can imagine at least 1000 will be directly or indirectly related to them besides the various service, resource and hardware suppliers and business associates.
Certainly sponsoring community services is a way to go. Such actions/activities wiil benefit many and will possibly touch more hearts too. One will never know what is the worth of good will until one needs one in return.

fantastic,, the people and miners appeared to be very proud and happy to work with Century. Very nice to see. I hope they can celebrate even more in the future, as San Juan mining operation becomes more profitable.
P05 - you should post this on the SH BB. I think more people, especially CMM's critics need to see this.
Great find!

Job posting for Century Mining Peru - Engineer position. The original spanish version can be found on the blog under ``Century Job Openings``. This is the first time I have ever seen a Century Peru job posting in InfoMine, other than for maybe the GM San Juan position.

Hopefully this is a new engineering position they are filling in order to begin focus on adding increased mechanization to the mine while also beginning to lay the early stage foundation for eventually growing production to 30,000 (50% increase).

Hopefully the jacklegs begin to arrive at San Juan soon. The miners must be pretty excited about receiving the jacklegs. Although the jacklegs are outdated at Lamaque, they are likely a big improvement from what the San Juan miners have historically used. San Juan had always been deprived of cash injections (perhaps for multiple decades) prior to Century coming along. Century has injected a lot of capital and upgraded the mine quite a bit since taking over, especially exploration work (no systematic exploration had ever been done on the property previously), vein development and significant improvements to the milling operation. Best of all, there are plenty of mine improvements planned for the next couple of years, which will result in a major transformation to both the mine and the community (especially once Century brings in electrical power for the entire community - Century is currently providing free battery recharging for people in the town).

Here is the translated job posting:

San Juan seems to me is like an unpolished large-carat diamond. With the many documented prospects and gold veins and a land mass of 220 sq km with good geology, it evokes an image of considerable potential (I can't help but feel that its potential may rival Lamaque's). Yet the mine, for all its historical reasons, is without electrical supply and the mining method/equipment seems to belong to those that predates jack-legs deemed out dated in Lamaque.
In Lamaque, we can see the very vital experience and core skills in geology, mine planning, mine engineering, milling, resource analysis/compilation, management and modern mining equipment are already there and I believe they can be made to bear on and benefit San Juan too.
Hope to see major initiatives to really speed things up and bring the San Juan mine up to date. If the gold is there which I believe it is, perhaps we can aim for a production target higher than 30,000oz knowing the price of gold is so encouraging. Perhaps may need to strike while the metal is still hot.

I think they were parading because PK is "out of the picture"
